Dan Sears
Trumpet, flugelhorn

Born in 1976, Dan Sears encountered music for the first time at the age of four when he began piano lessons in his house in Wyckoff, NJ. While in high school Dan led the marching band trumpets playing section leader charts and directing choreography. He also played solo chair in the high school jazz ensemble, participated in Regional Jazz and Concert bands, and All State Jazz and Concert Bands. He is now finishing up his undergraduate studies at William Paterson as a jazz performance major. Through the university program, Dan was given the opportunity to perform on stage with Michael Brecker, Stanley Turrentine, Chico Mendoza, Randy Weston, Paquito D’Rivera, and others. He currently lends his trumpet prowess to the 9 piece NYC funk group Sole Pocket. This band has had the opportunity to share the stage with Maceo Parker, Milo Z, Ike Willis, Bernie Worrel, and is currently completing their second recording. Dan continues his studies into the arts, musical and visual, and is constantly searching on his horn. His belief is that versatility is the key to achieving and maintaining success in this business, and that spirituality should be the primary motivation for playing music.
