SKYBOAT w/ Byard Lancaster
last night the Tritone's feeble PA system got in the
way of what could of been a stellar evening...as it was...it resembled more an unstable atom...musical chaos at times coming together for moments of beauty and then collapsing again. this is not necessarily a bad thing...not what one would have wanted, but what a frustratingly peculiar feeling battling an antequated soundsystem and trying to enjoy a performance with such luminaries of this philly improv/electronic/jazz scene as john shenk, mark boyce, barry meehan, byard lancaster, harold smith, elliot levin, j davidson,...et al....
right people, wrong location, wrong PA....after playing on so many wonderful soundsystems around the planet, it pains me to no end how clubowners presenting music still don't get it...
hey guys! get a new system. great for business, the audience. and the performers....my rant ended. that's how we felt on stage...might not have been as bad as that......cause the energy itself was good.....
anyway, a festival of noise and some beauty...thanks for coming out...thanks to craig for recording, and to daniella for film+fotogs....

sheraton towers room 523
nice flight in...no troubles...all gear arrives intact.
as we arrive at the hotel, it is teaming with fbi, secret service and police...the president of uganda is staying here...along with all the bumbershoot artist which makes for quite an interesting crew of folks...pretty entertaining seeing a lobby packed with ugandan people and watching flavor flav with his clock scoping out the scene...haha...this past weekends 4 day musicfestival in seattle,
bumbershoot, was a beautiful time...incredible weather...great music, food, art, photog, word, etc...you name it...it was all here...our set at the northwest stage saturday night was great with so many appreciative folks....highlights: ursula and i rocked untitled flow, this, release, and what a woman must do..... a flock of seagulls (literally) join me on my solo on release...synchronicity....several people told me we were sharing the same notes...
how cool is that?...but then again, maybe u had to be there.
sunday i took some time to explore the jimi hendrix museum (emp) and catch public enemy's global conscious presentation..."we are not only united states citizens, we are citizens of the world...not 3 worlds, not 2 worlds, we are one world...." chuck d inspired a stadium filled for hiphop to get out and vote but not for george w. bush...
sounds page
