last night we travelled to washington d.c. for a show
with julie dexter (uk)...a cool show at the black cat.
it was also being filmed for a documentary (more on that later) so we were surrounded by cameras during our entire performance...guys crawling around the stage, to our sides and behind...haha....luckily, our
show was a good one...highlights: This ( this song has evolved musically over the last 2 years to its present heavy version. last night was the one!)
what a woman must do, untitled flow....a good set.
people were really nice...said they loved our music etc...we evidently made our mark last night.
julies show was nice...and back in the van for
4 hours home...an extremely uncomfortable ride in the back seat...no room to stretch...ahaha....in the door at 5am, then to bed. exhausted.

feb09 the hut, philly

just finished recording with king britt the final tracks for the upcoming sister gertrude morgan re-interpretation coming out on ropeadope...9 tracks that will get you shouting hallelejah!!!! ...with king britt, g. love on harp...lots of swampguitar blues grunge bouncing psychodelic hiphop spirituals w/ afrobeat workouts, and more...a louisiana/philly stew...i had a few of my old dusty vintage guitars out for these recordings...on one track 'gods word' i was feeding my danelectro thru an mxr distortion+ into a dod preamp pedal into a pod then into an avalon preamp...unbelievable tone and distortion...and the guitar would takeoff and feedback on it's own...at the completion of the tracking...the high gain was pulling in a radiostation from north carolina....i told king you better record this just in case...after that an organ solo came through...and can you imagine? it was in the key of the song!!!! amazing sessions...amazing special record....the record should be out this summer...and tour dates should be happening as well...more to come. king is going to nawleens next week to gather fieldrecordings for the record....

i've also just completed a remix for italian electro group Duozero...that 12" will be out in Europe in March...

been continuing on my solo album, with nyc drummer jeremy carlstedt tracking this past sunday...it's coming along...slowly but surely. this friday in dc, catch ursula rucker + me rocking the audience as opener for julie dexter...gonnna be hot!
