spoonful rocks cincy

Wednesday, April 20, 2005
really fun weekend in cincinnati,ohio...the new power trio spoonful made up of barry meehan(bs.voc), marc scafidi (kit) and myself (guit, voc) rocked the river city quite hard on friday and saturday nites...nice to be back there too...our old stomping grounds back in the day...we had a blast at mikes music acquiring some vintage gear, and my favorite record store 'shake-it' on hamilton ave...we grabbed alot of great vinyl out of that store...check it out...citybeat had a nice feature on us which helped tremendously. lots of friends and fam came out as well...fantastik...and bassist bad bob nyswonger (the bears, psychodots, raisins) came out with his wife and friends and stayed for 3 rockin sets...we freaked him out with our version of king crimson's 'the great deceiver'. he said "i never heard any band cover that song!!" haha
made us feel good let me tell you...great to re-connect...lots o fun...look for more spoonful dates this summer...we're gonna try to get around a bit...

worked with king on a new remix for nikka costa(sp?) last night...the original track reminds me of lenny kravitz...very rock...but we went funkadelic/jamesbrown direction...i added 2 tracks of skank guitar...chuck treece on the bass, junius bervine-keys and king on perpetual rocking beats!!!! gonna be another crzy classic...

my takamine guitar is in the shop in a bad way currently. trying to see if takamine will help me out
to get a new guitar this month...the ef325 has served me well...been all around the world japan-russia, london-montreal, stateside, planes trains and autovehicles...so hoping this can work out...it was my main axe!!!!!!! here's to good guitar karma...

philly art museum

Saturday, April 02, 2005

yesterday and last night i took part in the massive
undertaking of the arts in motion Dali extravaganza...featuring dance, visuals, live classical and experimental electronic music...it was a great success with much work from everyone. we
(tm + gloria justen) had a world premiere of a new 33min composition set to visuals by ricardo rivera (klip) and daniele strawmyer choregrapher...it went quite well our first live performance of it in the great hall of the philadelphia art museum. a nice turnout and a receptive crowd. we hope to perform this piece again this year...stay tuned.
