music madness continues...

music madness...it's been a couple of crazy weeks of music....last week at the fire Fuzzbase played a nice night...eric slick (adrian belew, project object) joined us on drums for a great set...hope to do some more with him at some point in the not so distant future...in other news, the over a year strong back to basics party is changing a bit...king britt announced the band will play only one set instead of two for now...so, if you want to see that band play...be there at 11:30 for one big set!
i've started with manfred fischbeck doing movement classes at universtity of the arts weekly. have been enjoying that experience a lot...so i might see you on campus! played with bart miltenberger last wed, and a late night jam w/ tony catastrophe, elliott levin, and larry toft--funknastiness...and thursday yet another new chapter with fuzzbase...we've been working on new musics, and debuted a few new ones  'the light dies down' and 5matrix6, along with some of our regular tunes...an all instrumental affair this time, and i've added in some bits on the sampler...tyler lynch group opened...was a great night...ricardo lagomasino joined us on traps! finally last night played liberty lands with back to basics band: jafar barron, anthony tidd (rhodes!), tom spiker, tom clay, carlos izaguirre, me, and tanja dixon....great wonderful night outside to close out the festival...afterwards, hung with ari hoenig at chris's jazz cafe..also, met john ellis (sax, charlie hunter).where we were divising our reuniion gigs of jazzheads....there has been so many amazing musical nights at the silk city back 2 basics party featuring the live band of chuck treece, tim motzer, damon benet, anthony tidd, kevin arthur, carlos izaguirre, and jafar barron...a few weeks back a stellar jam with ?uestlove that blew the roof off the spot...and also jaguar wright sharing her vocal talents with us...amazing stuff...it's been 52 weeks and we're on our 1st anniversary of b2b.. stop thru every monday...some other exciting works in the can and process...

RELEASES: jazzheads avant wot not (1k) is now out on cd. you can get it at the moment at cdbaby.com....also, nucultures - the zebramoon remixes (1k) is on the cusp of release...coming on cd (next week) and digital (in november)...the new burnt friedman and jaki liebiezeit - secret rhythms 3 is now out...check at www.nonplace.de for more info.  it's an amazing record that i collaborated on both in cologne germany last august and in philadelphia yielding a couple monster tracks 'morning has broken' and 'endsafter'....check them out on burnt's site. ursula rucker - ruckus soundsysdom will be out in early november, an amazing record, that i produced a track for 'she'...we'll be debuting tracks from the new album with live band at the world cafe on october 12...be sure to come out...taylor mcferrin is opening...

...summer flies on and september's here again...admidst hurricanes, political conventions, and lot's of challenges ahead! hang on!

 

recap: in August was visited by my friend Markus Reuter, he of innsbruck austria, and he of the 'touch guitar' and Tuner...a weeks time
playing, recording, and making music--a live duo performance on chuck van eyl's Stars End program, and a Gojjo perfomance of the new
quartet comprised of: john swana on evi, doug hirlinger on traps, markus reuter on touch guitar, and tim motzer on baritone gtr--a formidable group to say the least. our performance was well received and recorded. so will have a listen soon and let you know
the results.  while markus was in town, i was treated to not 1, but 3 king crimson shows compliments of pat mastelotto who we
had a after hang both  night one + two in philadelphia.  night 3 in nyc at the nokia proved to be the show for me where
the crimson showed up...a nice view of stage from vip balcony and a smiling laughing robert fripp - and a ferocious band...whew.
lot's of highlights there, but one of my favorite shows of classic kc. they rocked.  afterward, backstage met tony levin...and on to steak
dinner with sid smith and markus reuter over some sobering chat about the state of the music biz...then, back to hotel where we
ran into adrian belew, who promptly went out with us for a lemon drop martini at the w. discussions insued about the powerful king crimson, adrian power trio, the state of the music bizness, famous king crimson trainwrecks on stage live in rome...etc... what a fun time!  

meanwhile, been working hard on remixes for stax (isaac hayes - the look of love), doublemoon records out of istanbul, turkey
mercan dede and baba zula, the later, destined for doublemoon remixed 2 - a 2008 release.  You can also check out my radiohead nude remix. It’s up at myspace.com/timmotzer. currently, deep in with
a new one for brazilian girls --- it's a secret for now.  hope your all doing great. be back sooner with more blathering.
