Philadelphia Guitarist/Songwriter/Producer Tim Motzer enjoys a busy and diverse musical life between nu soul, hiphop, electronica, nu jazz, and totally improvised sonic experiments and soundscapes. Influenced early on by pretty much everything since picking up the guitar at age 11, he continues to explore the edge and listen to everything he can get his hands on. Tim was born in Hamilton, Ohio and has resided in Philadelphia since 1985. He studied bebop & improvisation with jazz guitar legends Jimmy Bruno and Pat Martino.

He has performed and recorded with Jazzheads, Les Nubians, King Britt's Sylk 130, Kenny Lattimore, Patti LaBelle, Ursula Rucker, Jamaaladeen Tacuma among others and has toured the world from Cuba to Japan. He played guitar for Les Nubians 1999 24-city North American tour finishing in Paris, France, as well as their Summer World Tour 2000 w Amandou and Mariam, and Frikyiwa. He also performed on the award winning PBS documentary the Sound of Philadelphia. Among the recording artists Tim has produced is Jazzheads, Ursula Rucker, Fractured Reverb Underground, Ellie Perez , Global Illage, and - along with DJ Jazzy Jeff - the Norwegian acid jazz group the Quadraphonics. He worked with frequent collaborator Philip Charles on two deep house singles featuring Ellie Perez - Elektric Dreamers and Love Lives for You - released by Shaboom UK in 2001.

Kenny Lattimore's 1998 Columbia album From the Soul of Man features his fretwork extensively and he shares a co-writing credit on Days Like This- the first hit single from the album. He appeared with Lattimore, live at the Apollo Theatre and at Madison Square Gardens along with Wyclef Jean. His guitar work is also featured on Lattimore's Can't Get Enough from the Love Jones soundtrack and film.

As a member of King Britt's Sylk 130, Tim's electric guitars graced When the Funk Hits the Fan and the SRO Cosmic Lounge Tour including stops on Soul Train and Toronto's 1998 International Acid Jazz Groove Festival. On Re:Members Only - in addition to playing guitars, electric mandolin, and guitar synthesizer - he co-wrote and programmed For Love a track which features the late Grover Washington Jr.. Most recently, he produced 2 tracks (including the first single 'Supa Sista') on the critically acclaimed debut album for poet Ursula Rucker. A world tour followed in support of the album Supa Sista released on German label K7 including stops in Japan, Italy, Germany, London England, Austria, Canada, and throughout the US.
