ellie perez will perform in philadelphia june 3rd at bar noir. 10pm bar noir is on 18th@sansom philadelphia. she'll be performing songs from her entire catalogue with an incredible line up of inventive musicians: tim motzer (guitars + electronics), barry meehan (sub bass), and phillip yaeger (trombone + electronic percussion). don't miss this incredibly rare event...

other ellie perez news: the 12" singles love lives for you and elektric dreamers have both been released worldwide on shaboom uk…next out will be the full length phillip charles release - auraplex featuring both singles -- results of collaborations between phillip charles, ellie perez, and tim motzer. Also just released: jon marsh-fabric 03 compilation from london featuring ellie on the deep c-randall jones remix of electrik dreamers. The cd package i s beautiful in a boxed tin fabric 03 cigarette case.

global illage (chris cuzme, dan sears, tim motzer, jim hamilton) recently played in philadelphia at the ever present and captivating tritone in philadelphia to an amazingly enthusiastic audience. The two sets were filmed and recorded. Look for more shows in the philadelphia area and a possible live album in the near future.

a jazzheads reunion (sort of)
tim motzer with fellow jazzheads ari hoenig and bassist ben bocardo tracked with french saxophonist julien lourau and producer/remixer jeff sharel (frikyiwa/statra) for an upcoming release…should be real hot…these sessions were burning!!!..recorded at nola studios in nyc.

fractal ark (dj jolah, mark boyce, tim motzer, barry meehan, elliot levin) toured in canada recently to packed houses in toronto, hamilton, and guelph ontario. Performing with a wide range of canadian talent: pocket dwellers, moses mayes funk orchestra, and remy shand. Many thanks to andrea @ reverb for making it happen.

NU CULTURES ::: a one k mix collection (1k010)

1k’s NU CULTURES is a vibrant and diverse mix collection of downtempo pop/soul vocal electronica (ellie perez + barry meehan), nu jazz (jazzheads), ambient and glitch experiments (global illage + fractured reverb underground) all compiled and mixed into a 65 minute seamless flow…a soundtrack for your life. Drawing from a vast musical world of inspiration and experience, NU CULTURES is a journey full of imagination and heartfelt interior artistic expression.

Produced by tim motzer --guitarist /multi-instrumentalist/producer/songwriter with Les Nubians, Ursula Rucker, Kenny Lattimore, King Britt—NU CULTURES represents his own unique musical voice in the rich Philadelphia music scene and beyond. "With Nu Cultures, I was mixing all of my latest songs, music, and collaborations together just to make a fresh vibe album – my own little 1k radio set – and mainly to get all these songs out there and heard. I’m really pleased with the results."

In addition, Motzer is tying in his website www.1krecordings.com with extra information not found on the cd . "I’ve added all of the lyrics from the ellie perez and barry meehan tracks to the 1k site as well as extended musician + production credits for each track. The lyrics for remember by ellie perez, for instance, are notable because they were a complete improvisation in one take…and when you read them back you can’t believe how fully realized they are and how deeply full of meaning."

Having just completed NU CULTURES, Motzer is working on the 3rd fractal ark live bootleg coming soon; performing shows with the new ellie perez band; and readying for a US/Canadian Summer Tour with poet Ursula Rucker.
